Cake Man Raven Confectionery

4th Year Anniversary

Many families and community organizations of the Fort Greene Community came out to celebrate Cake Man Raven’s Confectionery, Inc.’s 4th Anniversary. There were crowds of well-wishers and supporters who thanked Cake Man for all his work. Some families came from as far as Baltimore, Maryland just to be part of such a wonderful day. Cake Man was also honored by 4 distinguished and well-respected politicians and historians of New York City – The Honorable Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Senator Andrews of Brooklyn, 35th District Council Person Ms. Letitia James and Governor Pataki.

The Honorable Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz welcomed guests and gave a brief synopsis of Cake Man’s history and how he built the confectionery. Cake Man Raven surprised Marty, by presenting him with a Cake Man Raven award and a lovely Red Velvet Cake as a token of appreciation.

The Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg gave Cake Man Raven a Proclamation in acknowledgement of his long-lasting dedication for non-for-profit organizations and the numerous donations to churches, schools, and government agencies and countless other organizations for many years. Cake Man Raven also received Proclamations from Senator George H. Andrews and 35th Council person Letitia James, and a Certificate of Appreciation from Governor Pataki.

The entertainment for Cake Man’s 4th Anniversary Celebration was magnificent! He dazzled observers with a red and blue ice carving. Observers were very impressed with his amazing skills in making ice carvings. There were also lots and lots of food, drinks and of course – desert. Steppers came to do a performance that won the hearts of the crowd. All the steppers were on bead and full of energy. Motherland Destiny did a great African & Jazz dance. MOSHOOD also took part in the event my donating two elegant outfits. Everyone had a great time!

Renowned gospel singer Valerie Boyd, recognized for her love of gospel music inspired the crowd with her powerful voice. She welcomed participation from the crowd and in return, they began to sing in harmony. Valerie was also the hostess for this year’s celebration.

Not only did Ms. Boyd have warm wishes for Cake Man Raven so did Dr. Martin – President of the NAACP. Dr. Martin talked about her long relationship with Cake Man and how he is so dedicated to many, many organizations.

Everyone had a great time! They all expressed anticipation for next years 5th year Anniversary!
